San Diego, Calif. (Nov. 16, 2023) – Marking another win for nationwide insurance and civil litigation defense firm Tyson & Mendes LLP, the San Diego County Court granted a motion for summary judgment in favor of the firm’s client, a commercial landowner, in a premises liability and negligence suit following a trip and fall incident in an outdoor shopping mall.

Tyson & Mendes’ Partner Richard Somes and Associate Anna K. Sasaki from the firm’s Orange County office defended the case, and Senior Counsel Jeffrey Siegel from the firm’s Law and Motion Department assisted with legal briefing. According to Somes, the plaintiff tripped over a metal bracket and suffered injuries. “Our client was the property owner. Their tenant had placed a big sign in the walkway that was blocking customers from walking back and forth. The plaintiff walked around it, stepped off a curb and got her flip flop stuck in a metal bracket. The fall, unfortunately, blew out her knee.”
