How Tyson & Mendes Builds a Powerful Team With a Healthy Work-Life Integration

Our goal is for each of our attorneys to have a successful professional career and fulfilling personal life.  At Tyson & Mendes, we believe attorneys who have a strong work-life integration perform better, are happier, and obtain better results for their clients.

Strong Advocates for Work-Life Integration

We are strong advocates for healthy work-life integration and have created modern policies to allow our attorneys to achieve it.

What is the difference between lawyer work-life balance and work-life integration?

Attorneys are some of the hardest-working, busiest professionals in the country.  Technology has given us the tools we need to work whenever we want, and we pride ourselves on the ability to provide exceptional client service beyond the typical 9 to 5 workday.  With our dedication to client service and exceptional case results, we understand how easy it is for work to consume an attorney’s life.

In civil ligation, the traditional ideal of “work-life balance” holds attorneys to an impossible standard. “Work-life integration,” however, allows our team to dedicate the time and energy needed to succeed in their professional lives while still living full lives outside of work.

Instead of building a wall between the two areas of your life, a healthy work-life integration allows the two areas to work together to create a powerful approach for your personal and professional life.

We Want Our Attorneys to Succeed in All Areas of Their Lives

We care about our team.  And that is why we have some of the best HR policies and benefits to develop and encourage the best possible work-life integration.  These policies include items like a manageable billable hour policy, flexible vacation policy, and paid family leave

A Manageable Billable Hour Policy

Tyson & Mendes has manageable billable hour requirements for attorneys and a generous guaranteed bonus program based on billable hours.

In fact, many competing law firms require 2,100+ hours of billable work per year.

We have a different philosophy.

Our attorneys often go above and beyond the minimum billable hour mark to bill at levels considered baseline at other firms.  The difference is – at Tyson & Mendes – they receive a guaranteed bonus for doing so.

What does that mean for you?  Simply put, the power is in your hands to determine how many hours you work above our requirements and which bonus level you achieve each year.

Flexible Vacation Policy

We recognize the importance of managing stress at the individual level, especially in the highly energized and competitive legal industry.  This is why Tyson & Mendes supports a flexible vacation policy.  This policy allows our attorneys to take the time they need to deal with life when it comes up or when they need to recharge.

Generous Family Leave

We consider the people that work for us a part of the family, and we protect and care for our family.  This is one of the reasons why we offer three months of paid maternity leave to our attorneys and staff.  This time allows birthing parents to fully bond with and care for the newest members of their family.

Making a Successful Professional Career and a Fulfilling Personal Life Possible

Supporting our attorneys with an amazing work-life integration is one of the ways Tyson & Mendes continues to build a strong team. We are proving it is possible to have a successful professional career in law and a fulfilling personal life.
