Martin Alperen

Martin Alperen is Senior Counsel at Tyson & Mendes’ Northern California office.

Mr. Alperen is an experienced litigator who has practiced law in California, Colorado, Massachusetts, New York, and the United States Virgin Islands. He has a large range and depth of experience in civil and criminal law, with 75 trials to verdict. His most meaningful case was serving as prosecutor on a case that led to the conviction of a man suspected of several murders, although only able to be prosecuted for one.

Mr. Alperen received his J.D. from Suffolk University law school in 1985 and his B.A. from Connecticut College in 1980. In addition to law school, Martin earned a Master’s in Homeland Security from the Naval Postgraduate School’s Center for Homeland Defense and Security in 2006 and is the author of the textbook, Foundations of Homeland Security: Law and Policy. The Third Edition is expected in late 2023.

Mr. Alperen has professional first responder experience as a police officer, an EMT, and a search and rescue team member. He volunteers with his dog Marley, visiting patients in the Emergency Department of UCSF Medical Center.
