Susan Jorgensen

Susan Jorgensen is a Senior Counsel at Tyson & Mendes’ Jacksonville office. Her practice focuses on appellate law, including federal and state cases, commercial and business litigation, and fraud.

Ms. Jorgensen has extensive appellate and litigation experience, including representing individuals and businesses in federal appellate and district courts in a number of jurisdictions in administrative and state courts.  Ms. Jorgensen finds novel legal arguments and has been extremely successful in positioning cases for success on appeal and at the district court level, including these recent wins: the precedential successful reversal of a negative district court judgment at the appellate level (Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals); the dismissal of a $25 million interference with business expectancy and defamation claim, lodged against a client in federal district court; the defense of an $8 million summary judgment in favor of a large printer manufacturer in the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. Ms. Jorgensen served as a federal law clerk to the Hon. Martha Vazquez, United States District Court, District of New Mexico; the Hon. Kim R. Gibson, United States District Court, Western District of Pennsylvania; the Hon. Morton I. Greenberg, United States Court of Appeals, Third Circuit; and the Hon. Consuelo Callahan, United States Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit. Ms. Jorgensen is a member of the New York, D.C., Texas and Florida Bar Associations.

Ms. Jorgensen earned her J.D. and her LL.M. in International & Comparative Law from the Duke University School of Law. She obtained her M.A. in East Asian Studies, with High Honors, from Yale University, and her B.A. from College of the Holy Cross, where she was a member of the National Political Science Honor Society. During her academic career, she studied abroad in Hong Kong, Strasbourg, Taipei, Geneva, and Beijing.

In her free time, Ms. Jorgensen enjoys gardening, traveling, practicing French and Chinese, and volunteering her time with animal rescue groups and veterans organizations.
