John J. Van Hise III

John J. Van Hise III is an Associate in Tyson & Mendes’ Jacksonville office. His practice focuses on defending matters involving insurance coverage, general litigation, automobile negligence, labor and employment, and premises liability.

Mr. Van Hise has represented a wide variety of businesses and individuals in both state court and in Federal District Court. He focuses on working to resolve cases as efficiently as possible and has had recent success on several summary judgment motions in both premises cases and insurance coverage disputes. Mr. Van Hise is licensed to practice law in Florida and is admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Florida. He is an active member of the Federal Bar Association and the Northern District of Florida Bankruptcy Bar Association. Before his legal career, Mr. Van Hise was an insurance underwriter and team leader for a variety of property, casualty, and specialty lines coverage.

Mr. Van Hise obtained his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2016. While attending law school, he was awarded the Book Award in Torts, served as member of the leadership team for the University of Florida Moot Court Team, and was on the Dean’s List. In 2013, he obtained his B.S. from the University of Florida Warrington College of Business Administration, where he graduated cum laude.

Beyond his practice, Mr. Van Hise enjoys cooking, watching sports (Florida Gators and Jacksonville Jaguars), and spending time with his family.
