Amanda N. James

Amanda N. James is the Managing Partner at Tyson & Mendes’ San Antonio office. She has over 12 years’ experience handling a wide range of high-exposure and complex casualty matters at primary and excess levels. Her practice focuses primarily on general liability, personal injury, premises liability, construction defect, and sexual assault matters.

Prior to joining Tyson & Mendes, Ms. James was a partner at a large Texas law firm. Ms. James has tried over 15 jury cases to verdict. She has tried several cases as first chair, reaching defense/no negligence verdicts in a handful of cases where plaintiffs sought over hundreds of thousands of dollars. Ms. James has tried cases in both federal and state courts throughout Texas.

In 2023, Ms. James was selected for inclusion on the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® lists for Insurance Law, Litigation – Construction, and Personal Injury Litigation – Defendants. In addition, she was nominated as a 2023 Outstanding Woman in Law in Scene in S.A. Magazine. Ms. James serves as co-chair for Tyson & Mendes’ Young Professionals group.

Ms. James obtained her J.D. from the Florida Coastal School of Law. During her time in law school, she was a member of the Moot Court Honor Board and the mock trial team. She also served as the Internal Vice President of the Student Bar Association. She received the Law Student Recognition Award for Best Oral Advocate. Prior to attending law school, Ms. James obtained her B.A. in English from Texas A&M University.

In her free time, Ms. James enjoys spending time with her husband Andrew and their Shih Tzus Pico & Mole, gardening, and taking Peloton classes.
