Amanda N. James
Amanda N. James is the Managing Partner at Tyson & Mendes’ San Antonio office. Her practice focuses on insurance defense, construction defect, and personal injury.
Prior to joining Tyson & Mendes, Ms. James was partner at a large Texas law firm. She has tried several cases as first chair, reaching defense/no negligence verdict in a handful of cases where plaintiffs sought over hundreds of thousands of dollars. Ms. James has tried cases in both federal and state courts throughout Texas. In 2023, Ms. James was selected for inclusion on the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® lists for Insurance Law, Litigation – Construction, and Personal Injury Litigation – Defendants. In addition, she was nominated as a 2023 Outstanding Woman in Law in Scene in S.A. Magazine.
Ms. James obtained her J.D. from the Florida Coastal School of Law. During her time in law school, she was a member of the Moot Court Honor Board and the mock trial team. She also served as the Internal Vice President of the Student Bar Association. She received the Law Student Recognition Award for Best Oral Advocate. Prior to attending law school, Ms. James obtained her B.A. in English from Texas A&M University.
In her free time, Ms. James enjoys spending time with her partner and their Shih Tzu, gardening, and taking Peloton classes.
