CHICAGO (August 4, 2020) – Tyson & Mendes LLP announced today the launch of its first Chicago office and the hire of two attorneys to lead the new branch. Scott Ruksakiati will act as branch managing partner with Mark Shanberg as senior counsel.

The Tyson & Mendes Chicago office will serve clients across Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Nebraska in all aspects of insurance defense litigation.

With more than 25 years’ experience defending clients in diverse and challenging litigation, Ruksakiati joins Tyson & Mendes after serving as co-founder of Masini, Vickers, Ruksakiati & Hadsell, P.C. His practice focuses on professional liability, catastrophic injury and death, construction defects, breach of contract disputes (stemming from multimillion-dollar construction projects), transportation litigation and other complex commercial litigation cases throughout the U.S. Over the course of his career, Ruksakiati has gained a reputation for successfully resolving cases prior to trial or arbitration by developing defenses for winning summary judgment and by positioning cases for favorable resolution through mediation.

Ruksakiati is a member of the bars of the State of Illinois, the Northern District of Illinois (general and trial bars), the Eastern District of Wisconsin, the District of Nebraska, the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. He earned his J.D. from DePaul University and is rated as AV® Preeminent™ by Martindale-Hubbell.

Shanberg previously served as an attorney with Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker LLP and brings more than 27 years of practical litigation experience to the Tyson & Mendes team. He has successfully defended his clients in a variety of cases involving medical liability, construction liability, product liability, trucking and transportation liability and premises liability, and has deposed over 100 liability and damages witnesses.
