SAN DIEGO (March 5, 2020) – Increasing the ranks of its Complex Trial Team, civil defense law firm Tyson & Mendes LLP has promoted three attorneys – Michelle Campbell, Codie Dukes, and Morgan Van Buren – to Partner. Dukes and Van Buren join the firm’s San Diego partnership, while Campbell is now based in the firm’s rapidly expanding Orange County and Los Angeles offices.

“Our firm is regularly ‘parachuted in’ only shortly before trial to successfully triage often tense, high stakes litigation,” said Tyson & Mendes Managing Partner Robert Tyson. “We handle some of the most complicated, hotly contested trials throughout the country, and our clients will greatly benefit from the promotion of these stellar attorneys within our Complex Trial Team.”

Campbell was previously Senior Counsel in the firm’s Los Angeles office, focusing her practice on general liability, directors’ and officers’ liability, and errors and omission, and has served as first or second chair for multiple trials. Adapting a creative and aggressive approach, she has successfully settled numerous cases, including those involving high-profile celebrity opposing parties. She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, San Diego and earned a Juris Doctor from Chapman University School of Law, graduating at the top of her class.

She brings extensive litigation experience to the Complex Trial Team – having successfully represented individuals and businesses in cases involving personal injury, fraud, property damage and complex trust disputes. Dukes most recently second chaired an admitted liability trial resulting in a highly favorable verdict. A Pi Sigma Alpha National Political Science Honors Society member, Dukes received her bachelor’s degree from California State University San Bernardino and earned her Juris Doctor from Thomas Jefferson School of Law.

Previously an Associate in San Diego, Van Buren’s practice focuses primarily on general liability and high exposure litigation. He has significant litigation experience, including handling matters involving diverse damages claims and potential excess exposure – securing the defense and complete indemnification of clients on multiple occasions. He has also negotiated several favorable settlements in multi-party litigation and nuisance value settlements in premises liability actions. Van Buren earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan in and his Juris Doctor from Southwestern Law School.
