BOSTON (December 6, 2021) – Leading insurance and civil litigation defense firm Tyson & Mendes LLP announced today the opening of its first office in Boston, Massachusetts, and the addition of Steven M. O’Brien as its Managing Partner. Boston is Tyson & Mendes’ fourth office in the Northeast.

O’Brien joins Tyson & Mendes with 36 years of litigation and trial experience, most recently serving as counsel at Morrison Mahoney LLP in Boston. His practice focuses on premises liability, construction litigation, catastrophic injury litigation, commercial and general litigation, complex trial team litigation, automobile liability, and professional liability.

Among the many awards he has received throughout his career, in 2016, he was honored with the Gold Award from Zurich Insurance Company for his dedicated work in a 10 month-long, catastrophic crane collapse trial – the longest civil trial in New York County history – which resulted in a favorable verdict for his client. O’Brien also received the Massachusetts Defense Lawyers Association Defense Lawyer of the Year Award in 2019, based on his trial and defense experience and his contributions to the legal community.
