Tyson & Mendes Adds Construction Liability Partner in Las Vegas: Griffith Hayes Joins From Litchfield Cavo LLP

LAS VEGAS (May 12, 2022) – Nationwide civil litigation defense firm Tyson & Mendes LLP has announced Griffith Hayes as the newest partner in its growing Las Vegas office. Hayes specializes in general liability, products liability, construction liability, employment and labor law, and financial institutions litigation. He brings his trial experience to join the experienced trial attorneys in Tyson & Mendes’ Las Vegas office. Hayes is the second partner to join the firm in Las Vegas this year, following the addition of Priscilla O’Briant from Lewis Brisbois in March.

Hayes joins the Tyson & Mendes team from Litchfield Cavo LLP, bringing more than 32 years’ experience representing clients, with a particular emphasis handling commercial litigation and construction matters. His depth of knowledge of construction claims, developers, business owners and general contractors also resulted in Hayes’ retainment on several large residential and commercial multi-phase and multi-use projects, where he reviewed and prepared construction agreements with design professionals and subcontractors.

“Griffith is an outstanding trial lawyer with decades of experience representing insurance companies and insureds across Nevada and California,” said Strategic Managing Partner Robert Tyson. “He is an excellent addition to our formidable Las Vegas-based team, where we have grown rapidly to meet our clients’ growing needs for skilled trial litigators in the region. We are thrilled to welcome Griffith to the firm.”

Hayes began his legal career in an insurance defense law firm located in Southern California, representing a variety of owners, developers and general contractors in construction defect, workplace accident and personal injury claims, as well as public entities in matters relating to dangerous property conditions and complaints of excessive force and civil rights abuse by police officers. He also served as managing partner of the Nevada office of an Orange County, California-based insurance defense firm for more than 14 years.

Hayes obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of California at San Diego in political science, and his Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law. He is admitted to both the Nevada and California State Bars, as well as the United States District Court of Nevada, Central District of California and Southern District of California.

Hayes is recognized as a Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent® Peer Review Rated™ attorney for the highest level of professional excellence. He was also included among the 2021 Best Lawyers in America in Construction Litigation and as a “Top Attorney” from Pasadena Magazine in the 2019.
