SAN DIEGO (May 2, 2024) – As nationwide civil litigation and insurance defense firm Tyson & Mendes LLP’s gears up for its third annual Nuclear Verdicts Defense Institute, the firm has announced a new carrier track option which allows insurance carriers who refer their defense counsel to the Institute to attend alongside them under a two-for-one deal.

The Nuclear Verdicts Defense Institute, an immersive, four-day trial academy uniquely developed to teach insurance carriers and defense attorneys innovative methods for stopping Nuclear Verdicts® – large, unsubstantiated jury awards that typically exceed $10 million –will be held July 18-21, 2023, at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club in La Jolla, California.

Claims professionals can attend the carrier track under the “Bring a Claims Professional Deal” – when an attorney they refer for the Institute applies, that attorney’s full price tuition covers the cost of both the attorney and the insurance professional. In addition to participating in the Institute’s psychology workshop, expert panel discussions and demonstrations, carrier track attendees will have access to their own exclusive “carrier only” breakout group to discuss how to use the firm’s Nuclear Verdicts defense methods in their roles working with defense counsel.

According to Tyson & Mendes Strategic Managing Partner Robert Tyson, the new carrier track option was created in direct response to demand. “We received multiple requests from insurance carrier professionals wanting to attend our event. This option helps ensure everyone is well versed in combating Nuclear Verdicts.”

The proven strategies taught at NVDI were first set forth in Tyson’s #1 best-selling book, “Nuclear Verdicts®: Defending Justice for All.” “There is a pattern to cases that result in Nuclear Verdicts® and we’ve identified how to break that pattern,” Tyson said. “The Nuclear Verdicts Defense Institute increases collaboration and communication across the insurance industry by equipping defense attorneys and insurance carriers with invaluable strategies to go head-to-head with evolving plaintiffs’ bar tactics. Insurance carriers who are unable to attend the event are still encouraged to refer their defense counsel. Attorneys referred by insurance carriers are eligible for a 20% discount off the full tuition.
