Shaila Shatabdy

Shaila Shatabdy is an Associate in Tyson & Mendes’ New York Office. She concentrates her practice on high exposure insurance defense litigation, including New York Labor Law claims, construction accidents, construction defects, premise liability, nursing home negligence, medical malpractice, and general liability matters.

Ms. Shatabdy has extensive experience representing insurance carriers, their insureds as well as individuals, businesses, property owners, contractors, subcontractors in complex civil litigation actions throughout New York and New Jersey state courts. Prior to Tyson & Mendes, Ms. Shatabdy was an associate at various Manhattan insurance defense firms, where she honed her passion for litigation. She also served as a summer associate and law clerk at defense litigation firms in Atlanta while attending law school.

Ms. Shatabdy received her J.D. from Emory University School of Law, where she graduated with honors, earning multiple spots on the Dean’s List as well as the Stange Moot Court Competition Award for Best Brief and the Dean’s Award in Federal Criminal Practice. She also completed the year-long Capital Defender Clinic with the Georgia Capital Defender, where she assisted with the representation of indigent clients on death row.

Ms. Shatabdy received her undergraduate degree from New York University with a triple major in Chemistry, Political Science, and Cinema Studies. In her free time, she enjoys film, literary fiction, and spending time with family and friends.
