Jakyra S. McLeod

Jakyra S. McLeod is an Associate Attorney in the New York office of Tyson & Mendes. Her practice focuses on complex litigation, labor and employment law, professional liability, general liability, and New York Labor Law matters. Jakyra represents employers, businesses, and insured clients through all stages of litigation, including pre-suit counseling, motion practice, mediation, arbitration, workplace investigations, and trial preparation. She has experience handling matters involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour disputes, premises liability claims, and workplace compliance issues.

Jakyra is committed to achieving practical and effective results for her clients. She has successfully assisted employers in resolving employment discrimination and retaliation claims, defended clients in wage and hour disputes under federal and New York labor laws, and supported businesses through internal workplace investigations and compliance counseling. Jakyra has also represented insured clients in general liability and premises liability matters, helping clients minimize exposure and efficiently resolve complex litigation disputes. Her proactive and strategic approach allows clients to navigate challenging legal matters with confidence.

Jakyra earned her Juris Doctor from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in 2023, where she served as a Pro Bono Scholar and received a Public Service Certificate. During law school, she held several leadership positions, including President and Secretary of the Christian Legal Society and Academic Chair of the Black Law Students Association. She earned her Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in Politics, Economics, and Law from SUNY Old Westbury in 2019. Jakyra is admitted to practice in New York State and before the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. She is also the founder of Sessions of H.O.P.E., Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to community service and civic engagement.

Outside of her legal practice, Jakyra enjoys community outreach initiatives, mentoring students and young professionals, and volunteering throughout Long Island. She values spending time with family and friends and is passionate about supporting programs that promote education, empowerment, and professional development within underserved communities.
