Erik Cansler

Erik Cansler is Senior Counsel in Tyson & Mendes’ Denver office. His practice focuses on personal injury and construction defect actions. His experience includes appeals, employment law, quiet title actions, commercial disputes, representation of bankruptcy creditors, and electronic discovery.

Mr. Cansler’s experience includes representing individuals and businesses in Colorado state courts, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, and in mediations and arbitrations. He has excelled in motions practice, including obtaining summary judgments for defense clients. In one case, he obtained a summary judgment order for his client which also held the opposing party, and the opposing party’s counsel, jointly and severally liable for Mr. Cansler’s defense fees. While working toward his J.D., he clerked in both the Colorado Attorney General’s office and the office of the U.S. Attorney for the District of Colorado. Prior to law school, he was a technical writer for large telecommunications companies.

Mr. Cansler obtained his J.D. from the University of Colorado School of Law in 2004. He obtained his B.A. in English Literature, magna cum laude, from Colorado State University in 1997.

In his free time, Mr. Cansler enjoys watching the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals. He also enjoys spending time with his family and reading about American history.
