SAN DIEGO (October 13, 2021) – Leading civil litigation and insurance defense firm Tyson & Mendes announced today the promotion of attorneys Emily Berman and Harry Harrison to partner. Both are based in the firm’s San Diego office.

Berman joined Tyson & Mendes in 2017 as an associate before being promoted to senior counsel. She focuses primarily on general liability, commercial and insurance litigation, including personal injury defense, representing individuals, businesses, and insurance companies in litigation across California state courts. Prior to joining Tyson & Mendes, she was an associate at an insurance defense firm in Los Angeles and a business litigation firm in San Diego.

Berman earned her J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law. She is licensed to practice law in California and is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association and San Diego Defense Lawyers. Berman is also a member of the American Inns of Court (Louis M. Welsh Chapter) and the Lawyer’s Club of San Diego. In her free time, she volunteers as a Court-Appointed Special Advocate with Voices for Children.

Harrison joined Tyson & Mendes as senior counsel in 2019. His practice focuses on personal injury, employment, and the defense of entity and organization defendants involving allegations of sexual misconduct. Harrison has litigated hundreds of civil matters and is experienced in all aspects of civil disputes, from pre-lawsuit strategy and negotiations through trial and appeal. He also regularly handles matters in business, construction, environmental, insurance, products liability, professional liability, toxic torts, and class actions.

Harrison earned his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law. He is a member of the American Inns of Court (Louis M. Welsh Chapter), the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, the San Diego County Bar Association, the National Eagle Scout Association and San Diego Defense Lawyers. He has also been selected by his peers and colleagues as one of the Top San Diego Attorneys, as seen in The San Diego Daily Transcript, and has been named one of San Diego’s Super Lawyers for multiple years by Super Lawyers magazine.
