Xavier T. Saunders

Xavier T. Saunders is Senior Counsel in Tyson & Mendes’ Jacksonville office. His primary areas of practice focus on appellate law, complex motions, and as trial support to preserve issues for appeal and for strategic advocacy.

Mr. Saunders has extensive experience as an insurance defense attorney in bodily injury, construction defects, business litigation, homeowners/condominium association and homeowners’ insurance suits. He has also advised insurance carriers as coverage counsel on first and third-party insurance policy claims. Mr. Saunders began his legal career as an insurance defense attorney at a boutique defense firm which specialized in commercial fleet litigation and trucking defense; while there, he authored multiple appellate briefs and complex motions with memorandum of law. Afterwards, he practiced at a firm where he represented plaintiffs in personal injury law matters. Mr. Saunders eventually formed and operated a law firm for over a decade; he provided representation for clients in personal injury, commercial litigation, residential/commercial landlord-tenant, and consumer law matters. Additionally, he acted as an outside general counsel for profit and non-profit business entities. Mr. Saunders served on the Florida Bar Small Rules Committee (2019-2022) and was a member of Chester Bedell American Inns of Court Member as an Associate (2009-2010) and as a Barrister (2016-2019).

In 2006, Mr. Saunders obtained his J.D. from Florida Coastal School of Law. As a law student, he won the book award for Federal Rules of Civil Procedure I, and he was the first runner-up for that award in Federal Rules of Civil Procedure II.

In his spare time, he enjoys gardening, traveling with his wife, and spending time with his family and friends.
