Wesley Gonzales

Wesley Gonzales is an Associate in Tyson & Mendes’ Orange County office.

Before joining Tyson & Mendes, he represented employees in complex wage and hour disputes, PAGA actions, and employment discrimination matters. Mr. Gonzales has experience managing all phases of litigation, including drafting and opposing dispositive motions, conducting depositions, preparing cases for trial, and handling appellate work. Mr. Gonzales previously practiced at several California plaintiff-side employment firms and served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable John A. Houston of the United States District Court for the Southern District of California. Throughout his career, Mr. Gonzales has helped secure meaningful outcomes for employees and class members in labor and employment disputes. He has successfully obtained seven-figure settlements through mediation on behalf of aggrieved employees and class members in wage and hour actions. Mr. Gonzales has managed litigation involving complex PAGA and class action claims from inception through resolution, including motion practice related to class certification and arbitration issues. He has also successfully opposed demurrers and motions to compel arbitration in employment matters, helping clients maintain access to the courts and preserve their claims. In addition, Mr. Gonzales has regularly appeared at court proceedings, worked directly with clients and opposing counsel to negotiate favorable resolutions, and contributed to the expansion of federal employment litigation matters at prior firms. Mr. Gonzales is admitted to practice law in the State of California.

Mr. Gonzales obtained his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School, where he was recognized as a Chancellor’s Scholar and received the Dean’s Leadership Award and the Damali K. Booker 3L Award. During law school, he served as President of OUTLaw, Vice President of the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Council, Secretary of the Intellectual Property Association, Social Chair of the Black Law Students Association, and a Co-Counsel 1L Mentor. He obtained his B.A. in Creative Writing, with a minor in Law and Society, from Florida State University.

Outside of his legal practice, Mr. Gonzales enjoys traveling, writing, and musical theatre. Since 2020, he has been an active member of the Los Angeles Gay Men’s Chorus. He also enjoys spending time with his cat, Soufflé, and keeping up with the best of scripted of television.
