Steven M. Wheat is Senior Counsel at Tyson & Mendes’ Orange County office.
Prior to joining Tyson & Mendes, Mr. Wheat advised and represented leading clients in real estate, construction, landlord-tenant, trademark, and commercial disputes. He has also represented owners, developers, and general contractors in disputes related to healthcare, industrial, commercial, green energy and conventional power developments, residential, and mixed-use projects. Mr. Wheat was previously second-chair in an arbitration involving a real property partnership dispute in which his client obtained a $40 million award. He has been named as a Super Lawyers Rising Star from 2016 to the present. Mr. Wheat is admitted to practice before all California state courts, the Federal District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, and Southern Districts of California, and the U.S. Court of Appeal for the Ninth Circuit. He is a member of the State Bar of California and the Santa Clara County Bar Association. Mr. Wheat is also a Certified E-Discovery Specialist, holding multiple Relativity certifications.
Mr. Wheat obtained his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law (now UC Law San Francisco), in 2012, where he was a staff editor for the Hastings Business Law Journal and graduated in the top 15% of his class. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Economics, International Studies, and History from the University of Mississippi, magna cum laude, in 2007.
In his free time, Mr. Wheat enjoys attending his sons’ soccer and taekwondo activities and is an avid reader of historical biographies.
