Nathan Shaman

Nathan Shaman is Senior Counsel in Tyson & Mendes’ San Diego office and is a member of the firm’s law and motion team. Mr. Shaman’s practice includes all areas of the firm’s defense practice with a focus on strategizing for and winning important motions, writs, and appeals.

Mr. Shaman has extensive and diverse litigation experience involving a range of cases representing individuals and businesses in the state and federal courts of California as well as federal courts throughout the United States, including in criminal defense matters earlier in his career. He is known for his detailed knowledge of civil procedure and his abilities to devise intricate litigation strategies and to quickly learn new areas of law. Mr. Shaman’s successes include trial-court dismissals of legal malpractice cases, one of which was appealed but affirmed by the California Court of Appeal, reversal by the California Court of Appeal of a default judgment entered against his client, and acquittals and dismissal of charges after mistrial in felony and misdemeanor jury trials. Mr. Shaman is licensed to practice law in California.

In 2010, Mr. Shaman obtained his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law where he served as an inaugural editor for the Journal of Climate and Energy Law and received CACI awards for the highest grades in constitutional law and climate and energy policy. In 2006, he obtained his B.S. in physics from Case Western Reserve University, graduating cum laude.

Outside of work, Mr. Shaman enjoys spending time with his family, reading, and enjoying the beautiful San Diego weather. He is also an avid Cincinnati Reds fan.
