Matthew S. Gibbs

Matthew Gibbs is Senior Counsel at Tyson & Mendes’ Los Angeles office. His practice focuses on catastrophic personal injury defense, employment practices litigation defense, the defense of entity defendants where sexual torts are alleged, including sexual assault and child sexual abuse, and medical malpractice defense.

Mr. Gibbs has extensive litigation experience, including representing individuals and businesses in state courts throughout California, Florida, and Texas. Mr. Gibbs has also practiced in federal district courts in California, Florida, and Washington as well as in the 4th, 9th, and 11th Circuit Courts of Appeal. Mr. Gibbs has been successful in obtaining pretrial dismissal or judgment by developing evidence barring plaintiff’s recovery. He also has experience taking on cases late in the litigation process, developing additional defense arguments, and readying the case for a trial. Mr. Gibbs is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel.

Mr. Gibbs obtained his J.D. from Southwestern School of Law in 1994. He obtained his B.A. in History from the University of California, Berkeley in 1984. He obtained his B.S. in Biology from Barry University in 2005.

In his free time, Mr. Gibbs enjoys spending time with his wife and son. He also enjoys reading, traveling, and watching UC Berkeley sports. Mr. Gibbs volunteers as a member of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses.
