Matthew Riley
Matthew Riley is Senior Counsel at Tyson & Mendes’ San Diego office. His practice focuses on litigating complex labor disputes and insurance matters before state, federal, and administrative courts.
Mr. Riley has extensive litigation experience, including notable successes at jury trial and appeals before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and Social Security Administration (SSA). In particular, Mr. Riley secured a nearly $1 million verdict for his client’s civil conspiracy and fraud claim at jury trial; reversed on appeal the SSA Adjudicator’s opinion, resulting in payment of past disability benefits to client; and upheld on appeal the EEOC Adjudicator’s determination that the Department of Defense-National Geospatial Intelligence Agency engaged in racial discrimination against its employee, resulting in the client’s promotion and damage award.
Mr. Riley obtained his J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law in 2013, a Master’s Degree in Education from Rockhurst University, and a B.A. in Political Science from William Jewell College.
In his free time, Mr. Riley enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.
