Krista M. Stoumbos

Krista M. Stoumbos is a Partner in Tyson & Mendes’ Northern California and Sacramento offices where she leads a multi-attorney team. Her practice focuses on the defense of entity defendants where sexual torts are alleged, including high-profile sexual assault and child sexual abuse cases, catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death defense, and employment litigation defense.
Ms. Stoumbos is a seasoned litigator who has tried more than 45 cases before juries. Over the past decade, she has practiced in state and federal courts throughout California and Illinois, excelling in an expansive range of civil and criminal matters. Ms. Stoumbos has obtained multiple dismissals of high-exposure claims through motion practice. She has also resolved numerous multi-million-dollar lawsuits through both direct negotiation and mediation. Her diverse experience allows her to defend a case from all angles and continuously assess the risks and benefits associated with bringing a case to trial. Prior to joining Tyson & Mendes, Ms. Stoumbos defended Fortune 500 corporate clients at two national law firms. She was recognized as a Rising Star by Thompson Reuters’ Super Lawyers in 2023 and 2024. Ms. Stoumbos is licensed to practice law in California and Illinois.
Ms. Stoumbos obtained her J.D. from California Western School of Law, where she was recognized as a Distinguished Advocate for moot court trial practice two years in a row, and her B.A. from Michigan State University. After graduation, Ms. Stoumbos served as an Assistant Public Defender for Lake County, Illinois.
Outside of the courtroom, Ms. Stoumbos enjoys theatre, art, practicing her French and Italian language skills, and visiting her family in Michigan.
