Hector Jimenez is a Partner in Tyson & Mendes’ San Diego office. His practice focuses on general liability defense and the defense of entity defendants where sexual torts are alleged, including sexual assault and child sexual abuse.

As a former front-line prosecutor for 30 years, Mr. Jimenez has extensive jury trial experience. He led the hate crimes prosecution unit, where he obtained the first gender-based hate crimes conviction in the nation.  He has handled cases ranging from murders, rapes, vehicular homicides, bank robberies, prison crimes, and fraud cases.  While prosecuting a two-defendant securities fraud case, he secured a conviction which resulted in the defendants receiving sentences of 35 and 28 years in state prison.

Mr. Jimenez obtained his J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1993, where he served on the traveling mock trial team.  He obtained his B.A. from the California State University at Fullerton in 1989.  He is an active member of the San Diego La Raza Lawyers Association.

In his free time, Mr. Jimenez enjoys long walks with his wife, triathlons, and coaching high school mock trial teams. He doesn’t enjoy it, but he spends too much time bleeding LA Dodger blue.
