Dr. Alexandra McDermott

Alexandra McDermott (“Ali”) is Senior Counsel in Tyson & Mendes’ Orange County office. Her practice focuses on general liability litigation defense.

Dr. McDermott has over 25 years of experience in various industries, including law, global education, leadership, business, and health and wellness. She is an experienced litigator and a strategist for handling complex cases. Her specialties include resolving matters pre-litigation, cases with complex challenges between parties, and matters involving catastrophic bodily injuries. Dr. McDermott has served as the primary handling attorney for claims involving real property, non-profit organizations, retail and hospitality establishments, product liability claims, intentional torts, and claims against motor vehicle dealerships and trucking organizations involving significant potential exposure.

Dr. McDermott obtained her JD from Chapman University School of Law, where she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review. She has also obtained her EdD from the University of Southern California, MFA from the University of California, Riverside, and her BA in English Literature from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.

Dr. McDermott dedicates her time as a volunteer to several nonprofit organizations and has taught ethics courses for a decade. She loves spending time with her children (and spunky Belgian Malinois, Khaleesi), reading, and writing.
