David Mayo

David Mayo is Senior Counsel in Tyson & Mendes’ Orange County office and has extensive litigation experience serving as lead trial/arbitration counsel in both state and federal courts in cases involving catastrophic personal injury in the aviation and trucking industries, corporate mergers, international intellectual property, employment litigation, workers compensation, vehicle warranties, criminal defense in California and Illinois, and as corporate counsel for two California companies.

Prior to joining Tyson & Mendes, Mr. Mayo was a prosecutor at the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office, where he prosecuted the highest number of cases and obtained the highest conviction rate of his training class. There, he obtained guilty verdicts in a trial the City Attorney deemed the highest profile case in the city of Los Angeles’s history, which was followed by the news media.

Mr. Mayo started as a law clerk at the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, where he appeared on the June 2012 episode of Dateline NBC and the September 30, 2012 & April 28, 2013, episodes on The Discovery Channel, “Sins & Secrets” for his work on The People v. Harvey Morrow. There, he interpreted the “California Deadly Weapons Recodification Act of 2010” for district attorney & law enforcement use statewide, updated the annual State of California Uniform Crime Charging Manual used by district attorneys’ offices statewide, trained law clerks on LADA Policy & Procedure, and participated in Project L.E.A.D., teaching inner city fifth graders elementary legal concepts, enabling them to recognize social and legal consequences of criminal behavior.

Mr. Mayo graduated from Trinity Law School, where he was a Staff Member of the Trinity Law Review, Member of the Trinity Law School Appellate Moot Court Team, Treasurer of the Trinity Law School Chapter of the Federalist Society, and a recipient of the American Jurisprudence Award.
