Stephen Poirier is Senior Counsel in Tyson & Mendes’ San Diego office. Mr. Poirier has extensive experience in complex construction litigation and commercial litigation; defending general contractors, developers, architects, and engineers.
Mr. Poirier has drafted and successfully argued dispositive motions for his clients on a variety of matters. He successfully pursued carriers wherein his client was a named additional insured, and reduced their defense costs from 100% to 5.5%.
Mr. Poirier earned his J.D. from California Western School of Law. While in law school, he served as Vice President of the Entertainment/Sports Law Society. He also volunteered at both the Public Defenders and District Attorney’s office in San Diego. Mr. Poirier’s final semester was spent serving as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Justice James A. McIntyre at the Court of Appeal, Fourth Appellate District, Division One. Mr. Poirier obtained his B.A. from the University of Minnesota, where he majored in Pre-Law, with a minor in Agricultural Business. He is a member of the California State Bar and is licensed to practice in state and federal courts.
In his free time, Mr. Poirier enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, and playing golf.
