Sitara Abbas

Sitara Abbas is an Associate in Tyson Mendes’ New York office, focusing on general liability defense. She brings a diverse litigation background —having worked on both plaintiffs’ and defendants’ cases—and insurance law, equipping her with a well-rounded perspective to effectively defend her clients.

During law school, she worked in Hofstra Law’s Clinic, where she represented children and young adults in Family and Immigration Courts, advocating for vulnerable individuals fleeing abusive and violent environments. Her clinic work included successful motion practice. Ms. Abbas combines her diverse legal background with a client-centered approach to deliver tailored and effective strategies.

Ms. Abbas obtained her J.D. from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University. During law school, Ms. Abbas honed her trial advocacy skills through Mock Trial competitions and trial-focused coursework, gaining hands-on experience by arguing motions and engaging in various forms of alternative dispute resolution. She obtained her B.S. in Finance from the Peter J. Tobin College of Business at St. John’s University. She also obtained her M.B.A. with a concentration in Risk Management and Insurance from the Greenberg School of Risk Management, Insurance, and Actuarial Science.

Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, cooking, exploring fashion, and spending quality time with her family and pets.
