Sean Swinford

Sean Swinford is Senior Counsel in Tyson & Mendes’ Orange County office. His practice focuses on insurance defense, general liability, and construction litigation.

Mr. Swinford has nearly two decades of civil litigation experience, during which he has represented clients in a wide variety of defense matters. He obtained summary judgment on behalf of a client involved in a serious personal injury matter that arose from a weight training accident. In another case, following a four-day jury trial, Mr. Swinford’s client obtained an award that was lower than its pre-trial settlement offer, allowing the client to recover costs and expert fees. Mr. Swinford has successfully argued in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals following an appealed defense verdict in a jury trial that he second chaired concerning the revocation of a conditional use permit. He is licensed to practice in all California State Courts, the Southern and Central California District Courts, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mr. Swinford earned his J.D. from the University of Toledo in 2005, where he served as an assistant editor of the Toledo Journal of Great Lakes Law, Science and Policy. He obtained his B.A. from the Ohio State University.

In his free time, Mr. Swinford enjoys spending time with his family, being outdoors, and working on home improvement projects.
