Michael Sekkas - Senior Counsel

Michael Sekkas is Senior Counsel in Tyson & Mendes’ New York and Connecticut offices.  Mr. Sekkas is experienced in defending and litigating tort claims involving wrongful death, catastrophic injury, premises liability, professional liability and personal injury matters.

Mr. Sekkas also focuses his practice on transportation and subrogation and has advised and represented domestic and international insurers on first-party property (Homeowner’s and Commercial), commercial general liability, construction defect, and professional errors and omission claims.  He has successfully litigated a wide variety of first-party and third-party insurance cases, including the interpretation of policy provisions and exclusions.   Mr. Sekkas has been recognized by his peers for his creative and effective problem-solving skills and dedication to solutions.  Mr. Sekkas has been selected to Connecticut Super Lawyers Rising Stars, which recognizes no more than 2.5 percent of attorneys in each state.  Rising Stars is a designation of top-rated practicing attorneys selected through extensive evaluation.  Mr. Sekkas was a presenter and speaker at the 2021 CLM Annual Conference in Atlanta on a topic entitled, “Panel Counsel Checklist: A Guide to Quality Work and Navigating Ethical Quandaries.”

Mr. Sekkas received his J.D. degree from Quinnipiac University School of Law, where he was a Member of the Mock Trial Honor Society.  He was awarded the American Jurisprudence award for Advanced Mock Trial and received the award for Outstanding Performance in Oral Advocacy upon graduation.  He has also served as a Mock Trial Coach for the Quinnipiac University School of Law Mock Trial Honor Society.  He is licensed to practice law in the State and Federal Courts in Connecticut and State of New York.

Outside of the office, Michael has been involved in the Adopt-a-Family Program through the Salvation Army of Fairfield County.  He is an avid athlete, competing in baseball, basketball, and flag football leagues in Fairfield and Westchester County.
