Lissa D. Laffey is Senior Counsel at Tyson & Mendes’ Los Angeles office. Her practice focuses on personal injury litigation matters including automobile and pedestrian cases, premises liability, industrial accidents, general liability, and malpractice litigation.
Ms. Laffey also has extensive litigation experience, including representing individuals and businesses in state and federal courts throughout California. She demonstrated her excellence as a trial attorney since her first trial, where she obtained a 12-0 defense verdict. Since then, she has consistently obtained favorable outcomes for her clients, even when faced with challenging trial scenarios. In one trial, Ms. Laffey’s client refused to be present at trial, and Ms. Laffey was unable to retain any expert witnesses to testify on behalf of her client. Despite being an admitted liability case, the jury only awarded plaintiff medical damages, and refused to award any pain and suffering damages. Ms. Laffey later argued a TBI case in which plaintiff asked for four million dollars. Following the 11-day trial, the jury awarded just $35,000 for past pain and suffering and $35,000 for future pain and suffering, resulting in a total of $70,000 total plaintiff pain and suffering, effectively saving her client from a Nuclear Verdict™.
After earning her B.A. in English Literature from Providence College, Ms. Laffey earned her J.D from Whittier Law School and was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1990. She is licensed to practice law in all courts in the State of California.
Ms. Laffey lives in West Hollywood and spends her free time cultivating her balcony garden and her relationships with friends and family. Ms. Laffey enjoys volunteering with local organizations and binge watching Forensic Files.
