Juliann O’Meara is a Partner in Tyson & Mendes’ New York office. Using her background as a registered nurse and years of litigation experience, Ms. O’Meara provides clients with an effective defense in high-exposure medical malpractice and professional liability lawsuits from inception through trial.
Ms. O’Meara has defended hospitals, nursing homes, physicians, chiropractors, nurses, nurse midwives, dentists, physical therapists, and other allied health care professionals from malpractice and negligence claims. She has handled a growing number of malpractice cases in the fields of teleradiology and intraoperative neuromonitoring. Ms. O’Meara is also experienced in defending nursing home clients in lawsuits seeking punitive damages under New York Public Health Law Section 2801-d. She is additionally well-versed in the defense of emergency and non-emergency medical transportation cases.
Prior to initiating her legal career, Ms. O’Meara obtained her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Purdue University. She worked as a full-time registered nurse focused on the care and treatment of cardiac patients. She continued to work at high-level trauma centers and local community hospitals while attending New England School of Law. Her dual nursing and legal backgrounds allow Ms. O’Meara to communicate with clients as both a lawyer and confidante. Not only is she able to efficiently review and analyze medical records and communicate with experts, she also understands through first-hand experience the challenges physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals face when caring for patients.
Ms. O’Meara resides in Wilton, Connecticut with her husband and two children. In her free time, she enjoys skiing, hiking, and running.
