Jeffrey Leight is an Associate in Tyson & Mendes’ Los Angeles office. Mr. Leight has a broad range of experience in multi-party complex litigation, including products liability, business litigation, premises liability, employment, and general liability matters. He is experienced in all stages of litigation, including early litigation strategy, discovery, dispositive law and motion, and trial preparation. He has represented a wide range of entities in his practice including corporations, insurance companies, homeowners’ associations, and manufacturing companies.
Mr. Leight has considerable experience litigating complex, high-stakes matters against the most well-known firms in Los Angeles. In one particular automobile versus tractor trailer case, Mr. Leight deposed and obtained favorable testimony from several key witnesses, including plaintiff. Plaintiff initiated settlement negotiations with a quarter-million-dollar demand. After discovery, Mr. Leight was able to settle the matter for less than one-tenth of the initial demand. In another personal injury case involving a trip and fall accident that resulted in substantial injuries, Mr. Leight drafted an opposition to a co-defendant’s motion for summary judgment. Initially, the co-defendant denied all liability and refused to engage in meaningful settlement negotiations. However, after the judge denied the co-defendant’s motion, the case was quickly and favorably resolved, with the co-defendant contributing a significant sum toward the settlement. In addition to the aforementioned matters, Mr. Leight has prepared several high exposure cases for trial, drafted numerous motions for summary judgment, and successfully negotiated settlements for a number of cases. Moreover, Mr. Leight has taken well over 100 depositions, including the depositions of percipient witnesses, first responders, corporate representatives, and plaintiffs.
Mr. Leight earned his J.D. from the Southwestern University School of Law in 2013. During his time in law school, Mr. Leight served as Certified Law Clerk at the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office where he researched and drafted numerous evidentiary motions and memorandums. Mr. Leight also has a background in finance and accounting and worked as a financial analyst with Paramount Pictures.
When not in the office, Mr. Leight likes to visit California wine country with his wife, head up to the Sierra Nevadas for backpacking trips, and take to the skies in a Diamond DA-40 single engine aircraft.
