Jason Shon is an Associate in Tyson & Mendes’ Los Angeles office. Mr. Shon’s practice focuses on defending individuals and businesses in general liability matters, contractual disputes, labor and employment claims, and consumer protection actions. Mr. Shon has extensive experience litigating in federal and state courts throughout California.
Mr. Shon secured dismissal of a federal class action case in which the putative class alleged a major storage facility charged unlawful fees and violated various statutes under the Insurance Code. Mr. Shon is adept at utilizing discovery procedures to obtain critical information for dispositive action. Recently, Mr. Shon convinced a general contractor to not only dismiss an indemnity claim against his client, but to pay in full the total amount his client advanced for a construction project. In addition, Mr. Shon has represented plaintiffs in personal injury lawsuits and knows the economics of how plaintiff’s attorneys value cases for settlement. With this experience, Mr. Shon leverages effective negotiation strategies to obtain cost effective resolutions for his clients.
Mr. Shon obtained his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and his B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley. In law school, Mr. Shon served on the Hastings Business Law Journal and earned the Witkin Award for Academic Excellence in Corporations. Mr. Shon externed for the Honorable William Alsup in the United States District Court of the Northern District of California, for the Antitrust Division of the United States Department of Justice, and for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Mr. Shon is a member of the Korean American Bar Association.
In his free time, Mr. Shon is an avid rock climber. He also enjoys skiing, surfing, and obstacle course racing.
