James Lumsden is an Associate at Tyson & Mendes’ Los Angeles office, where he is part of the general liability team. He enjoys a diverse practice in personal injury defense, including six years of specialization in habitability claims.
Mr. Lumsden has extensive litigation experience in providing thoughtful and professional representation to both individuals and business entities, developing effective strategies at every stage from pre-litigation to trial. He is always looking for creative ways to resolve cases early whenever possible. He has written, argued, and won several motions disposing of cases at the pleading stage. He is particularly skilled at preparing clients for challenging depositions, as well as taking effective depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts. Mr. Lumsden takes professional courtesy seriously and maintains cordial relationships with opposing counsel and other colleagues.
Mr. Lumsden obtained his J.D. from Western State University College of Law in 2012. He was a senior technical editor for Law Review for two years and graduated magna cum laude. He graduated from Queen’s University in Canada in 2003, with a B.S. in biology and a minor in film studies.
In his free time, Mr. Lumsden enjoys playing Ultimate Frisbee, rock climbing, traveling, and watching movies with his wife and cats.
