David B. Roper is Senior Counsel in the firm’s San Diego office. Mr. Roper’s defense practice focuses on personal injury, products liability, construction defect, and commercial matters. He has extensive litigation experience representing manufacturers, retailers, real estate developers, general contractors, and property owners at the state and federal levels in both California and Nevada.
Since beginning his legal career in the Office of the San Diego City Attorney, Mr. Roper has amassed substantial trial experience. He has been particularly successful in resolving cases through the targeted use of dispositive motions. Such motions have included oppositions to class certification, summary adjudication of severe personal injury and construction defect cases, and enforcement of contractual limitations periods, which effectively decimated potential multi-million dollar claims.
Mr. Roper received his J.D., cum laude, from California Western School of Law in 1982, where he was Head Lead Articles Editor of the Law Review. He is licensed to practice law in California and Nevada. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the San Diego Defense Lawyers, culminating with his election as President of that organization in 2014. He is also a recipient of the Defense Research Institute Exceptional Performance Citation for 2014 – 2015.
Mr. Roper has two adult sons. He currently lives in Poway, California with his wife, Lydia. They are avid theater and concert aficionados, and enjoy taking advantage of the many great performance venues in Southern California.
