Complex Trial Team
Certain cases will go to a jury, and when they do, Tyson & Mendes has assembled an experienced trial team to handle your complex trial needs. Tyson & Mendes is regularly “parachuted in” only shortly before trial to triage often tense, high stakes litigation. This experience will enable the firm to handle the most complicated, hotly contested trials anywhere in California, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, and Washington.
The Complex Trial Team has tried a wide variety of lawsuits to jury verdict. These range from employment, professional liability, business and accounting fraud, significant real estate disputes, class actions, and wrongful death. The primary team members consist of Firm partners Robert F. Tyson, Jr., Mina Miserlis, and Kristi Blackwell. All of these team members have large, complex jury trial experience. In addition, the full resources of the Firm’s four offices throughout California will be available to rapidly respond to any “bet the company” trials.
Mr. Tyson was recently named a California Attorney of the Year by both The Recorder and the State Bar (The CLAY Award.) He is a recent San Diego Defense Lawyer of the Year and a Super Lawyer. He has been named Top 50 Most Influential People in San Diego. These awards are a result of Mr. Tyson’s success as a trial lawyer for over 20 years and will be put to use for your most important matters.
Mr. Tyson has also developed a particular expertise in arguing damages to juries. In addition to receiving many defense verdicts, Mr. Tyson has tried to jury verdict several significant admitted liability cases, where there was literally no defense, and won. The multi-billion dollar Supreme Court Howell v. Hamilton Meats case is an example of such a trial victory. Mr. Tyson also persuaded a jury that the value of the life of a 16 year old girl and her unborn fetus to her plaintiff parents, was zero. Mr. Tyson is also a frequent lecturer on handling sympathy in jury trials (most recently at the RIMS national conventions in Philadelphia and Los Angeles.)
Finally, in recent years, the Complex Trial Team members have been “parachuted in” to try lawsuits against some of the most well-known plaintiff’s attorneys in California, if not the country. Mr. Tyson has also successfully tried lawsuits against, and been retained to try lawsuits against, Nick Rowley, Gary Dordick, R. Rex Paris, Michael Alder, Casey Geary, Girardi Keese and others. The Complex Trial Team tries big cases against big name attorneys, and wins.
