Kristi Blackwell graduated from California Western School of Law (cum laude) in 2007. Ms. Blackwell was a Senior Editor for the California Western Law Review and was a recipient of an Academic Merits Scholarship. Her undergraduate degree is from the University of California, San Diego in 2004. Ms. Blackwell majored in History, with a minor in Political Science. Ms. Blackwell is a member of the general liability, professional liability, and business litigation team.

Attorney Accomplishments

• Second chair in jury trial involving professional negligence/fraud action against insurance broker, resulting in $1.3 million verdict, including punitive damages, after a $47,000 CCP 998 settlement offer from defendants.
   

• Assisted in preparation of petition and opening brief to California Supreme Court on issue of whether personal injury plaintiffs can recover as economic damages an amount exceeding what their health insurance carrier paid and was accepted as payment in full by the healthcare provider. [Howell v. Hamilton Meats (2009) 179 Cal.App.4th 686]
   

• Successfully settled numerous personal injury and subrogation cases within insurance policy limits where damages greatly exceeded the limits.
